In response to the Government’s announcement to abolish NHS England and bring the health service under direct democratic control, the Patients First Coalition is to be led by former Health Minister and former NHS nurse of 25 years, Rt Hon Anne Milton.
The Coalition will provide a platform for working with policymakers in this period of significant change – making sure that patient needs, rather than ideology, remain at the heart of the NHS’ evolving structure.
The Patients First Coalition, run by This Is Purpose, was originally established in 2024 to drive a new national conversation on healthcare, helping shape cross-party priorities ahead of the General Election, led by Nick Forbes CBE.
Now with the Government’s recent decision to return the NHS to direct democratic control, the Patients First Coalition is once again stepping forward to ensure that this new era of the NHS is open to collaboration with all parts of health and social care community to deliver the best outcomes for patients. Throughout 2025 we will be looking at key health topics such a tackling health inequalities, alongside submitting best practice and discussing new ideas.
